Irina Smorońska

O mnie: A painter from the Małopolska region. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts with a degree in interior design, but developed her painting intuitively, as a self-taught artist. It was this path—free from academic conventions—that allowed her to develop her own, recognizable artistic language. At the heart of her work is the female motif, presented not as a realistic portrait, but as a symbol of emotions, inner states, and the relationship between humans and nature. The artist draws inspiration from the elements—water, air, fire—treating them as metaphors for the emotions, transformations, and energies that shape human experience. Her paintings have an atmospheric, poetic character. They are created through an intuitive process, often as a record of emotions and inner impulses. A subtle symbolism is evident, balancing on the edge of explicitness and understatement, leaving the viewer room for their own interpretation. The dominant color palette is shades of blue, purple, and pink, which create an atmosphere of peace, delicacy, and mystery, while simultaneously emphasizing the inner strength of the characters depicted. Color serves as an emotional vehicle in her works—it is as important as form.
